Lumber Sculpture at Waterfront Park
There are many ways to commemorate the heritage of lumbering in an art form and artist Ronald Dewey has highlighted that seminal era in Ludington’s history with this portrayal of horsepower moving logs to rivers and railheads en route to a sawmill. This magnificent bronze is integrated with a granite wall recording key moments in Mason County’s lumbering history.
Sculptor Ronald Dewey is a Ludington High School graduate who earned a BFA in Fine Arts Sculpture at the University of Washington. Now living in the Cleveland area, Dewey has created many commissioned sculptures including “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” a life sized sculpture in bronze at Progressive Field for the Cleveland Indians, “The Guardian,” a fireman memorial for the city of Euclid, Ohio, and “St. Peter and St. Paul,” life size figures for St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Sarasota, Florida.
