308. Amber Elk Ranch

At the turn of the century, the property which the Amber Elk ranch occupies today was owned by the Fred Keson family. It was a dairy farm like a majority of the farms along Conrad Road. The property stood vacant for decades after the family quilt milking cows. Fortunately the barn survived and now serves as a storage space for feed and equipment for the Elk Ranch. The Ranch, which started as a hobby and passion for elk, has grown into a successful business.

Whether you are a visitor to our area or simply a nature lover, you are sure to enjoy a visit to this unique place. Here you can view majestic bulls, cows and adorable calves amidst a fun, family oriented atmosphere. Learn about the animals and the Ranch as you tour the pastures on a wagon from which you will get up close and personal with the elk. Visitors can enjoy the experience of feeding the elk from their hands; certain to thrill both young and old. The Antler Shed Gift Shop is another attraction you won’t want to miss filled with a variety of gifts and elk products featuring cuts of elk meat and of course antlers.

Aside from the elk, you will see other animals including goats, whitetail deer and a variety of other farm animals. There is no better place to enjoy an afternoon with your family. Even you know a lot about elk this promises to be a memorable experience that is both educational and fun.

On Saturday evenings you can enjoy a delicious elk burger, chips, pop and corn on the cob in our outdoor pavilion. Our wagons and gift shop are accessible for physically impaired persons. There is ample room for bus parking not very far off the main highway US 10. Our tour rates are: seniors 55 and over - $8.00; adults - $10.00; children 4-12 - $7.00. Group rates for 15 or more are available. Please call in advance to schedule a group tour and discuss the rates. Please feel free to call us at 231/843-5355 or Bob at 231/357-9987 or Dawn at 231/233-2890.
